My Family
I was born and
raised in a neighborhood of San Carlos, in Santo Domingo, Capital city of
Dominican Republic.
My parents are Professor Cecilia Genobeba Suarez de Robles and businessman Angel Bladimiro Robles Rivera,
the oldest of six, four sisters and on brother. My wife Carmen Levy Melendez, to
whom I have been married for 32 years, and myself, were blessed by God with four
children, my first son, Aramis (32) and my daughters, Irina (30), Rosina (28)
and Carmina (25. Irina and Rosina, both married, have also blessed us with four
grandchildren, two dominican-cuban-americans, Gabriela (11) and Carlitos Gerardo (6)
and two locals: Miguel Angel (9) and Jose Eduardo (6) respectively. Aramis and her wife
Greetje, had their first son, GianFranco (3), in Antwerp, Belgium,
first grandson with my name, that allows God permits, the continuity of my
family, and recently Aramis had his first daughter, my seventh grandchild. Carmina and his husband Rafael Eduardo, were blessed by god with the birth of their
first son, Rafael David (2), my sixth grandson.
After my primary school, I graduated from Loyola Polytechnic Institute in San
Cristobal in General Mechanics, at the same time, when returning from Loyola, I
attended a commercial institute, where I graduated in accounting and commercial
secretarial. Later on, I took three trimesters of conversational English at
Dominican American Cultural Institute to obtain the certificate of English as a
second language.
I joined IBM World Trade Corporation in October, 1964, where through my 26
years of service I practically made the careers of Service and Systems
Engineering, from which we left voluntarily, acting as Information System, Telecommunications
and Computing Center Manager. Actually I work independently as system support, consultant and
personal trainer in personal computing and internet mostly to corporate
executives, their relatives and recommended friends.
My Preferences
I think it is the best way to know who am I and at the same time, discover
how I am. I love marine sports, swimming, skin diving, fishing all types,
inherited from my father, whom was known in sport fishing circles as El Peje (spanish
slang for "The Fish"). I also love aviation, received my private pilot license in
1978 and have logged around 370 hours in single and multi-engine airplanes,
about 12 hours are international flights in command, although I only had 6 hours
of IFR flight instruction.
My favorites hobbies and pastimes, when not solving a problem to a customer,
teaching computer classes, or babysitting my grandchildren, which is an
excluding activity, are to surf the web, weekend cooking and of course, at least once a
week, share a good drink with some BBQ or delicatessen with my friends. Being Gemini
and extremely extroverted, sincerity is probably my worst defect
and cause of trouble. Even my best friends sometime tell me I don't let them speak. But as I learnt to love my friends with their defects, it might be my
mistake to expect them to love me likewise
